The Rawdar dashboard answers three questions — where the price is, where it is going and why — and puts each client’s private data alongside market data.

The challenge

Anyone who buys or sells commodities makes decisions every day based on scattered information: quotes from several exchanges, reports from agencies such as the EIA, news from multiple sources and, often, internal price series that live in Excel spreadsheets. Pulling all of this together takes analysts hours. By the time the information reaches decision-makers, the market has already moved.

What was missing was a tool that answered, in one place, the three questions that matter: where is the price? Where is it going? Why?

The solution

We designed and built Rawdar, a platform that automates the whole cycle, from data collection to interpretation, and presents it in a clear dashboard designed for decision-makers.

Technology

An asynchronous Python (FastAPI) back end on PostgreSQL, with automated data pipelines and built-in scheduling. A React dashboard and a Next.js admin console. Machine learning for forecasts and generative AI (LLMs) for news analysis. Everything runs in Docker containers, with public access protected by Cloudflare.

Three questions, one platform

  1. 01

Where is the price: market data that is always up to date

Futures prices from exchanges such as NYMEX, COMEX, CBOT, ICE and LME are collected automatically every hour. Users get a full daily history, candlestick charts, monthly statistics and the futures curve, which shows at a glance whether the market is in contango or backwardation.

  2. 02

Where is it going: machine-learning forecasts

Proprietary predictive models project prices up to 6 months ahead, with 50% and 80% confidence bands. Forecasts appear side by side with those of the EIA (Short-Term Energy Outlook), so users see both the expected value and the degree of uncertainty.

  3. 03

    Why: news interpreted by AI

The platform collects news, removes duplicates and uses generative AI to write a market summary for each commodity. Each summary gives the short- and long-term sentiment (bullish or bearish) and cites its sources. Instead of reading dozens of articles, users read one summary.

  4. 04

The client’s private data alongside the market

In niche markets such as coal chemicals or coking coal, the platform integrates the client’s own price series. Each series has dedicated forecasts and a weekly AI-generated research report, visible only to those with access.
